What does Electrical Compliance Inspection Covers

What does Electrical Compliance Inspection Covers

Electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC)

A COC confirms that a fixed electrical installation complies with SANS 10142-1. It is required at property transfer, after alterations, and often by insurers after a claim. Certificates older than two years are typically rejected at transfer.

  • Issued by a registered person after full inspection and testing
  • Usually completed within 24 to 48 hours of booking
  • Remedial work quoted upfront and completed in-house
  • Accepted by conveyancers, banks and insurers

What the Inspection Covers

  1. Distribution board, breakers, earth leakage and labelling
  2. Earthing and bonding, including metal water pipes
  3. Continuity, polarity and insulation resistance testing
  4. Socket outlets, lighting circuits and isolators
  5. Geyser, pool, borehole and outbuilding circuits

Common Reasons a Property Fails

  • Undocumented DIY alterations discovered at sale
  • Missing or ineffective earth leakage protection
  • No bonding to metal water pipes
  • Non-compliant pool, geyser and outbuilding wiring

Professional Electrical Compliance in Cape Town

Electrical work is one of the few trades where the difference between a good job and a bad one is invisible until something fails. Our approach to electrical compliance is deliberately methodical: assess first, quote in writing, then execute to the standard. That is what keeps installations safe, insurable and cheap to maintain over their lifetime.

Every job is carried out in accordance with SANS 10142-1, the South African wiring code, using correctly rated cable, protection and terminations. We document what we do, so you have a record for insurers, conveyancers and future contractors.

What You Get

  • Full inspection against SANS 10142-1
  • Itemised list of non-compliances with costed remedies
  • Protects insurance cover and property transfers
  • Certificate issued once the installation passes

Common Problems We Solve

  • Undocumented DIY alterations discovered at sale
  • Missing earthing and bonding to metal water pipes
  • Non-compliant pool, geyser and outbuilding wiring

Our Electrical Compliance Process

  1. Free consultation. Tell us what you need over the phone or WhatsApp and we book a convenient slot.
  2. On-site assessment. A registered electrician inspects the installation and confirms the scope.
  3. Written quotation. You receive an itemised, fixed quote before any work begins.
  4. Execution. Work is carried out to SANS 10142-1 by qualified teams with fully stocked vehicles.
  5. Testing and handover. Circuits are tested, the site is cleaned and a Certificate of Compliance is issued where applicable.
